UCR Science to Policy Curriculum & Events Committee Member
PhD Candidate, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Yaqiong Li is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in the Materials Science and Engineering program at UC Riverside. She studies computational material science and focuses on atomistic and electronic scale simulation. Specifically, she is investigating the properties and behavior of material interfacial systems in the energy storage field and is trying to enhance the corrosion resistance of the electrode and further improve the cyclability of zinc batteries. Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Yaqiong did an internship at OIST in the final year of her undergraduate education. Her research focused on the efficiency improvement of energy materials.
Yaqiong enrolled in UCR’s Science to Policy Graduate Certificate Course in 2020. After graduating from the cohort, she continued work as a curriculum and event committee member to develop the course materials and organize the events. Yaqiong wants to contribute to use her engineering background to bridge the gap between researchers and policymakers.
