Julie Meier Wright
Julie Meier Wright is California’s former Secretary of Trade & Commerce and was responsible for the state’s domestic and international business programs including ten overseas offices, one of which was in Tokyo. She led numerous international trade missions to Asia during her six years working for the governor.
Today, she is a Senior Fellow of the California Council on Science & Technology, is on the US Council on Competitiveness where she consults on public affairs and strategic marketing. One of her most interesting clients was in Japan: Julie has been an international advisor to the Okinawa Institute of Science & Technology for over a decade. In 2018 and 2019 she consulted on OIST’s Long Range Strategic Plan. In 2018 she became vice-chair of the US-based OIST Foundation.
